Transition Networks will start off the new year by exhibiting at two large industry trade shows this January, both of which are located in sunny Orlando, Florida.

With the large number of trade magazines focusing on information technology and network cabling, I sometimes find it hard to stay caught up on my reading file. For this reason, I always appreciate receiving suggested reading tips from my friends and colleagues on articles that they have found interesting. One of these articles, entitled Fiber-to-the-Desk Takes the Stand, is in the November 2007 issue of Cabling Business Magazine. In this commentary written by Mr. Bob Ballard, he convincingly argues that the myth of fiber installations always being more expensive than copper installations is no longer true. He says that several projects across the country have proven this and in particular he cites a project at the Houston U.S. Federal Courts office. continue »

Transition Networks has been a big supporter of the BICSI organization for many years and I recently returned from their fall conference held in Las Vegas during the week of September 10th. If you are not familiar with BICSI, it is a professional trade organization that provides education and certification for individuals working with the infrastructure for telecommunications, audio/video, life safety, and automation systems.

My primary focus at this conference was to work our tradeshow booth during the exhibit portion of the conference. But I also had the opportunity to walk the exhibit hall and attend several of the seminars throughout the week to learn about the latest trends in the Information Transport Systems (ITS) industry. continue »

The week of September 10th will be a busy one as two major industry trade shows will be taking place at the same time. We will have booths at both The BICSI Fall Conference in Las Vegas and ISC East in New York.
