Plug & Play™ Universal Systems Media Converter Module: Not Just for the Data Center
Recently Transition Networks partnered with Corning Cable Systems to develop the most dense fiber-to-copper media conversion solution on the market. Residing within Corning’s 4U Pretium™ Fiber Housing, the fully populated Plug & Play™ Universal Systems Media Converter Module is able to employ 16 MTP fiber connectors to provide 96 copper ports of Gigabit connectivity. The main value proposition being that this solution will enable you to utilize all of the advantages of a fiber optic plug and play infrastructure today, while continuing to use the copper electronics that you already have.
Originally marketed solely as a “Data Center Product” meant to alleviate copper cabling congestion and rising cooling costs, the MCM is also establishing it’s niche as a solution for any Gigabit media conversion application that requires more than one or two stand alone units. With the addition of the 1 RU Pretium(trademark) Fiber Housing, which can provide 12 or 24 copper ports of Gigabit connectivity, this solution has moved from the Data Center to any Edge or Zone fiber-to-copper conversion within a network.
Both the 4U and the 1U chassis offer SNMP manageable, redundant power supplies and all of the advanced trouble-shooting features already incorporated into Transition Networks media converters to assure the utmost reliability for mission critical applications.
